A monthly invitation to wonder.
A community for curious, kind, and open-minded people to slow down, stay curious, notice more, and experience the world—and one another—with fresh eyes.
What is Luz Sessions?

Luz Sessions is a monthly invitation to slow down, explore a corner of the humanities, and connect with a community of curious hearts.
Each month, we’ll begin with a different avenue of the humanities—art, literature, architecture, music, dance, or theatre—and wander together into a single story, idea, or tradition.
Before we ever gather, I’ll send you a thoughtfully curated collection of invitations: a playlist to listen to, a poem to sit with, a work of art to notice, a short reading, a film, a photograph, or a simple prompt to carry with you throughout the month. They’re never homework—just gentle invitations to spark your curiosity. Explore as much or as little as you’d like.
Then, we’ll pull up our chairs and come together for an evening of conversation, connection, and discovery. We’ll ask questions, share perspectives, and leave seeing the world—and perhaps ourselves—a little differently than before.
Luz means light in Spanish, and that’s exactly what these evenings are about: illuminating the world through the humanities, one conversation at a time.
From corazón to destino.
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
Marcel Proust
The Ways We Wonder
Wonder has many ways in.
Each month, we begin with a different expression of the humanities and let curiosity lead the conversation.
Art
See Differently.
Beauty has a way of changing the way we look at the world.

Literature
Walk in someone else’s shoes.
Stories invite us to into places, lives, and perspectives beyond our own.

Architecture
Noticing the places we live in.
Every space tells a story about the people who imagined it.

Dance
Movement as a teacher.
Movement has always been one of humanity’s oldest languages.

Music
Listen beyond the notes.
Every rhythm carries the heartbeat of a culture.

Theatre
Step into another story.
Performance invites us to see ourselves through someone else’s eyes.

Is This For Me?
Pull up a chair if….
…you’ve ever gone down a rabbit hole just because something made you say, “Wait… tell me more.”
…you find yourself drawn to museums, live music, old buildings, bookstores, or little details that most people walk past.
…you’ve had a beautiful piece of art light you up, from the inside out.
…You could happily spend hours over a cafecito talking about a book, a place, or a big idea.
… you love hearing how other people see the world.
…you believe life gets richer when we slow down, stay curious, and notice more.
“There are years that ask questions and years that answer.”
Zora Neale Hurtson

Around our table:
We arrive curious.
We make space for every voice.
We ask thoughtful questions- and listen just as thoughtfully.
We leave with more wonder than certainty.
No one has to be an expert, everyone has something to notice.
Everyone belongs at the table.

Meet Your Curator
Hi, I’m Joana.
Traveler | Storyteller | Curator | Wonder Seeker
I’m the person behind Traveling in Spanglish.
I notice the little things… and I love helping other people notice them, too.
Whether we’re exploring a city, sitting around a table, or gathering on Zoom, I believe the humanities help us see the world—and each other—with fresh eyes. My hope is that every Luz Session leaves you feeling a little more curious, a little more connected, and inspired to keep noticing.
Nos vemos en la mesa.
